Miami Heat 113, Toronto Raptors 101

The Raptors shot 54.2% from the floor but they couldn’t keep up with the Heat who shot 57.1% from the floor. The Heat outscored the Raptors 30-18 in the 4th quarter to surge to victory. DeMar DeRozan (28 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 1 steal) and Andrea Bargnani (27 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot) led the way for the Raptors in this game. Amir Johnson was also rock solid in this game with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in 30 minutes on the floor. Jose Calderon did a solid job of running the offense as he finished up with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 16 assists and 1 steal. The Raptors are now 17-35 on the year.

Gary Forbes has really stepped up lately for the Toronto Raptors

27-year old SG/SF Gary Forbes has really stepped up as of late for the Raptors. In his last 4 games, Forbes is averaging 29.8 minutes, 15.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He has now played in 36 games (2 starts) for the Raptors so far this year and he is averaging 13.1 minutes, 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. The Raptors are going to continue to find minutes for Forbes as long as he keeps playing like he is right now.

Toronto Raptors 105, Denver Nuggets 96

The Raptors outscored the Nuggets 20-11 in the 4th quarter last night to finish them off. Andrea Bargnani led the way for the Raptors last night with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot. DeMar DeRozan (17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal) and Linas Kleiza (15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot) also had solid games for the Raptors last night. Gary Forbes (11 points) and Jose Calderon (10 points) also pitched in for the Raptors last night. The Raptors are now 17-34 on the year.

The Toronto Raptors lose Jerryd Bayless for the rest of the 2011-12 season

The Raptors have lost 23-year old point guard Jerryd Bayless for the rest of the 2011-12 season due to a torn left oblique muscle. Bayless played in 31 games (11 starts) for the Raptors last year and he averaged 22.7 minutes, 11.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He has now played in 91 games (25 starts) in his first two years with the Raptors and he is averaging 22.5 minutes, 10.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. This is a big blow to the Raptors as Bayless played pretty darn well for them off the bench.

The Toronto Raptors sign Alan Anderson

The Raptors have signed 29-year old SG/SF Alan Anderson to a 10-day contract. Anderson last played in the NBA in 2006-07 with the Charlotte Bobcats. Anderson has played in 53 games (7 starts) in his first two years in the NBA and he is averaging 15.5 minutes, 5.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. He might get to play some right away as the Raptors have suffered a rash of injuries as of late.
