Andrea Bargnani needs to get his act together for the Toronto Raptors

Blogged under Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page, Uncategorized by alleyoop on Saturday 5 January 2008 at 2:35 pm

The Raptors were planning on giving Bargnani more minutes than he got last season but he hasn’t earned them yet. He has played in 29 games so far this season and he is averaging 23.6 minutes, 9.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. He has been a tad off on his shot this season as he’s only shooting 39.5% from the floor and 40.7% from the free throw line so far. He will need to improve on his shooting if the Raptors are to play up to their ability as a team.

Jamario Moon has been quite a find for the Raptors

Blogged under Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page, Uncategorized by alleyoop on Monday 31 December 2007 at 2:02 am

Forward Jamario Moon has been quite a find for the Raptors due to all of the injuries they have suffered this season. The rookie has played in 25 games so far this season and he is averaging 28.1 minutes, 7.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.6 blocks per game. Look for Moon to keep getting solid playing time as long as he’s playing well.

The Toronto Raptors acquire Carlos Delfino from the Pistons

Blogged under Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Raptors News, Front Page, Uncategorized by alleyoop on Saturday 16 June 2007 at 2:06 pm

The Raptors have acquired 24 year old Carlos Delfino from the Pistons for a 2nd round pick in 2009 and a 2nd round pick in 2011.  Delfino is an open court player similar in style to Jose Calderon which just didn’t fit into the Pistons style of physical basketball, but he should fit right in with the Raptors.  Delfino is a big guy at 6′6″, 230 pounds so he can handle small forward or shooting guard.  He played in all 82 games (1 start) last season for the Pistons and he averaged 16.7 minutes, 5.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  He shot 41.5% from the floor, 33.3% from three point range and 78.7% from the free throw line.  In three season for Detroit, Delfino played in 180 games (6 starts) and he averaged 14.2 minutes, 4.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists.  He shot 40.2% from the floor, 32.2% from three point range and 70.4% from the free throw line.  Delfino is a much better player than he’s shown so far in his career and the Raptors made a great move as 2nd round picks rarely are impact players in the NBA.
