The Toronto Raptors appear set at the point for 2011-12
Unless the Raptors make a deal, they appear set at point guard for the 2011-12 season. 30-year old Jose Calderon played in 68 games (55 starts) last year for the Raptors and he averaged 30.9 minutes, 9.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He has now played in 427 games (240 starts) in his first six years in the NBA and he is averaging 27.7 minutes, 9.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game. Calderon is a pure pass first point guard as his goal is to make everyone better on his team. 23-year old Jerryd Bayless will backup Calderon, unless he’s dealt. Bayless played in 71 games (14 starts) for the Hornets & Raptors last year and he averaged 21.1 minutes, 9.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He has now played in 198 games (25 starts) in his first three years in the NBA and he is averaging 17.4 minutes, 7.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.
