24-year old Andrea Bargnani might have to score more this year and I’m sure he won’t have a problem with that. Bargnani played in 80 games (all starts) for the Raptors last season and he averaged 35.0 minutes, 17.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.4 blocked shots per game. He has now played in 301 games (194 starts) in his first four years with the Raptors and he has averaged 29.0 minutes, 13.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Bargnani is the rare center who can nail three pointers as he has hit 37.6% of them so far in his NBA career.
30-year old David Andersen will be Bargnani’s back up this year. He played in 63 games (0 starts) as a rookie for the Rockets last season and he averaged 14.1 minutes, 5.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. The Raptors will be happy with Andersen if he can give Bargnani a break for 10-15 minutes per night.
24-year old Patrick O’Bryant will likely be #3 in line for minutes at center when the season starts. He played in 11 games (0 starts) for the Raptors last season and he averaged 4.6 minutes, 1.7 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.1 assists per game. O’Bryant has now played in 90 games (3 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 5.8 minutes, 2.1 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Don’t expect O’Bryant to get much P.T. this year.
22-year old Solomon Alabi was acquired from the Mavericks in a draft day deal. He played in 32 games for Florida State last season and he averaged 11.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 2.3 blocked shots per game. Alabi played in 77 games in his three years in college and he averaged 9.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 2.1 blocked shots per game. The Raptors are going to bring Alabi around slowly this year.
