The Toronto Raptors will have the same cast at point guard in 2010-11
The Raptors tried to trade both Jose Calderon and Jarrett Jack but no other team would pull the trigger on a deal. I think the Raptors will be much better because they kept these two guys. 28-year old Calderon will be the starter at the point. He played in 68 games (39 starts) for the Raptors last season and he averaged 26.7 minutes, 10.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. Calderon has now played in 359 games (185 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 27.1 minutes, 9.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game. He is a pure pass-first point guard who makes his teammates better.
26-year old Jarrett Jack is also a very solid basketball player. He played in 82 games (43 starts) for the Raptors last year and he averaged 27.4 minutes, 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Jack has now played in 404 games (195 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 28.3 minutes, 10.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Jack and Calderon could play some together this season with Jack playing shooting guard.
28-year old Marcus Banks is left to pick up scrap minutes behind Calderon and Jack. Banks played in 22 games (0 starts) for the Raptors last season and he averaged 11.1 minutes, 5.0 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.2 assists per game. He has now played in 345 games (37 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 16.1 minutes, 6.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. The Raptors hope they don’t have to use Banks much in 2010-11.
