The Toronto Raptors are protecting DeMar DeRozan

The Raptors are protecting rookie shooting guard DeMar DeRozan this season as they are watching his minutes so that he doesn’t get overwhelmed. He has played in 10 games (all starts) this season and he is averaging 17.8 minutes, 5.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. The 20-year old DeRozan has a bright future but the Raptors are going to handle him with kid gloves this season.

The Raptors were outrebounded 46-39 by the Suns and that played a factor in this loss last night. Chris Bosh led the way for the Raptors last night with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots. Hedo Turkoglu wasn’t supposed to play last night because his hip has been bothering him but he gave it a go and scored 20 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and he dished out 3 assists. Andrea Bargnani pitched in with 17 points and 4 rebounds last night. The Raptors are now 5-5 on the year.

Toronto Raptors 104, Los Angeles Clippers 89

The Raptors came out of the locker room after halftime breathing fire as they outscored the Clippers 59-35 in the 2nd half of the game. The Raptors also shot 51.3% from the floor which was pretty darn good. Chris Bosh led the way as usual with 21 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Andrea Bargnani pitched in with 19 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocked shots last night. Jose Calderon did a good job of running the show on offense with 18 points, 3 rebounds and 9 assists. The Raptors are now 5-4 on the year.

The Toronto Raptors release Quincy Douby

The Raptors have released 25-year old shooting guard Quincy Douby. Douby did not play in any games this season for the Raptors but he played in 7 games (0 starts) for them last season in which he averaged 10.4 minutes, 4.4 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.7 assists per game. He has played in 143 games (0 starts) in his three years in the NBA so far and he has averaged 10.7 minutes, 4.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. The Raptors won’t miss Douby at all as he wasn’t good enough to earn any minutes so far this year.

Toronto Raptors 99, Chicago Bulls 89

The Raptors outscored the Bulls 22-11 in the fourth quarter last night and they also held the Bulls to 39.8% shooting from the floor which were huge reasons for the win last night. Chris Bosh was outstanding as usual with 28 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists. Jose Calderon did a decent job of running the offense with 18 points and 6 assists. Andrea Bargnani pitched in with 16 points and 6 rebounds last night. The Raptors are now 4-4 on the season.
