Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Raptors News, Steppin Up by Andrew on Wednesday 18 November 2009 at 8:43 pm

Toronoto Raptors forward Andrea Bargnani has been playing great this year and is on pace to set career highs in every positive category.  The 24-year-old Italian has been helping Chris Bosh with the scoring load much more this season.  He is averaging 18.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.1 assists per game.  All of those are career highs thus far.  He is also shooting better than he ever has.  He is 49% from the field, 44% from three, and is 4th in the NBA in free throw percentage at 91.7%.  Its rare to find 7 footers that shoot the ball as well as Bargnani, and with the way he continues to improve each year the Raptors have a future All-Star in their hands.

The Raptors have claimed 26-year old C/F Pops Mensah-Bonsu off waivers from the Rockets. He played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Rockets this season and he averaged 3.3 minutes, 1.3 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.3 assists per game. Mensah-Bonsu has now played in 38 games (0 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 9.7 minutes, 3.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. This was a good move for the Raptors as Mensah-Bonsu played for them last year and he looked good.
