Jose Calderon is the backup point guard and he’s a good one. Just like T.J. Ford….he loves to pass and get the ball up the court quickly. He played in 77 games (11 starts) last season for the Raptors and he averaged 21.0 minutes, 8.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Juan Dixon is the backup shooting guard on the Raptors and he can put up points quickly. He played in 81 games (6 starts) last season for the Trailblazers and Raptors and he averaged 23.8 minutes, 9.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Jorge Garbajosa will come off of the bench this season after playing well as a rookie last year for the Raptors. He played in 67 games (60 starts) last season for the Raptors and he averaged 28.4 minutes, 8.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Carlos Delfino will be the backup small forward for the Raptors this season and he should fit right in. He played in 82 games (1 start) last year with the Pistons and he averaged 16.7 minutes, 5.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Center Rasho Nesterovic will be a backup this season after starting last year for the Raptors. He played in 80 games (73 starts) last season and he averaged 23.7 minutes, 6.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per game. Joey Graham will also be coming off of the bench and he was solid for the Raptors last year. He played in 79 games (21 starts) for the Raptors last year and he averaged 16.7 minutes, 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Reserve center/power forward Kris Humphries will likely get more playing time than he did last year as he’s one of the few Raptors who can provide some muscle. He played in 60 games (2 starts) last season for the Raptors and he averaged 11.1 minutes, 3.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Reserve forward Maceo Baston was signed as a free agent in the off season and he will also provide the Raptors with some needed rebounding and defense. He played in 47 games (2 starts) for the Pacers last year and he averaged 8.6 minutes, 2.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Darrick Martin was re-signed by the Raptors in the off-season and he will be mostly sitting at the end of the bench. He played in 31 games (0 starts) last year for the Raptors and he averaged 7.2 minutes, 3.0 points, 0.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

The Toronto Raptors have two new starters for this year

Jason Kapono was brought in as a free agent and Andrea Bargnani will take over as the starting center for the Raptors. Kapono was the best long range marksman in the NBA last year as he made an incredible 51.4% from three point range last season. Kapono played in 67 games (35 starts) last season for the Heat and he averaged 26.4 minutes, 10.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The Raptors need Bargnani to get tougher under the basket and get more rebounds. But, he will be an offensive force for the Raptors as he’s a poor man’s Dirk Nowitzki. Bargnani played in 65 games (2 starts) as a rookie last season for the Raptors and he averaged 25.1 minutes, 11.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Chris Bosh has developed into one of the best power forwards in the NBA and he will just keep getting better with experience. Bosh played in 69 games (all starts) last season and he averaged 38.5 minutes, 22.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 blocks per game. Anthony Parker was brought over from Europe last season as a free agent and he fit right into the explosive offense of the Raptors. Parker hit 44.1% of his shots from three point range and he will be jacking up a lot of threes again this year. Parker played in 73 games (all starts) last year for the Raptors and he averaged 33.3 minutes, 12.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Point guard T.J. Ford will be the man that makes the offense all go for the Raptors as he’s an excellent passer that pushes the ball up the court very fast. He played in 75 games (71 starts) last season for the Raptors and he averaged 29.9 minutes, 14.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

The Raptors have re-signed veteran shooting guard Darrick Martin.  Martin played in 31 games last season for the Raptors and he averaged 7.2 minutes, 3.0 points, 0.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.  Don’t look for Martin to get a lot of playing time this season but he’s capable of producing if given the chance.  He has played in 497 games (178 starts) over his career and he has averaged 18.2 minutes, 7.0 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.
