The Raptors acquire forward Giorgos Printezis from the Spurs

The Raptors have acquired forward Giorgos Printezis from the Spurs for a 2008 2nd round pick.  Printezis played his college ball in Greece and he fits right in with the wide open style of the Raptors.  Printezis is 6′8″,220 pounds and he has a reputation of being a tough guy despite his modest production overseas.  Printezis played in 42 games in Greece and he averaged 8.3 points, 3.2 rebounds an 0.6 assists per game.  He made 60.9% of his shots from the floor, 38.5% from three point range and 68.9% from the free throw line.  The Raptors have had recent success with players from Europe so keep your fingers crossed.

The Toronto Raptors likely won’t be to active on Thursday

The Toronto Raptors would probably like to trade into the NBA Draft on Thursday as they don’t have a pick as of right now.  The Raptors have already improved their team in adding Carlos Delfino in a trade with the Pistons.  His style didn’t fit in Detroit as he seems like more of a West Coast player and that’s the way the Raptors play so look for Delfino to be a much better player with Toronto.  Look for the Raptors to scour Europe to attempt to find another player like Jorge Garbajosa who they signed after the Draft last season.  The Raptors will improve as a team just by having more experience this season.  They also have to figure out if they want to bring Morris Peterson back or if they are going to let him walk as a free agent.

The Toronto Raptors acquire Carlos Delfino from the Pistons

Blogged under Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Raptors News, Front Page, Uncategorized by alleyoop on Saturday 16 June 2007 at 2:06 pm

The Raptors have acquired 24 year old Carlos Delfino from the Pistons for a 2nd round pick in 2009 and a 2nd round pick in 2011.  Delfino is an open court player similar in style to Jose Calderon which just didn’t fit into the Pistons style of physical basketball, but he should fit right in with the Raptors.  Delfino is a big guy at 6′6″, 230 pounds so he can handle small forward or shooting guard.  He played in all 82 games (1 start) last season for the Pistons and he averaged 16.7 minutes, 5.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  He shot 41.5% from the floor, 33.3% from three point range and 78.7% from the free throw line.  In three season for Detroit, Delfino played in 180 games (6 starts) and he averaged 14.2 minutes, 4.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists.  He shot 40.2% from the floor, 32.2% from three point range and 70.4% from the free throw line.  Delfino is a much better player than he’s shown so far in his career and the Raptors made a great move as 2nd round picks rarely are impact players in the NBA.
