Reserve point guard Jose Calderon has been playing good so far this season.  He’s been doing a good job of backing up TJ Ford and keeping him fresh.  Calderon is averaging 17.1 minutes, 6.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game so far this season.  He’s also shooting an outstanding 49% from the floor.

The Raptors improved to 13-16 on the season with this win.

The Raptors got out-rebounded 45-34 and let the Sonics hit 51.2% of their shots from the floor and those are the reasons they lost this game.  Can’t blame TJ Ford for the loss as he scored 24 points, dished out 9 assists and stole the ball 3 times.  Fred Jones had a solid game with 19 points and 3 steals.  Jorge Garbajosa was tough as nails with 18 points and 7 rebounds.  Rasho Nesterovic also had a solid game with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

The Raptors fell to 12-16 on the season with this loss.

Raptors band together with Chris Bosh out

The Raptors are missing undoubtedly their best player, Chris Bosh, but they’ve played well with him out as Jorge Garbajosa, Rasho Nesterovic and Andrea Bargnani have picked up their play in his absence.  Chris Bosh has a deep knee bruise on his left knee and the Raptors don’t have a timetable for his return.  Bosh is averaging 20.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 block per game so far this season.

The Raptors got outrebounded 46-33 by the Blazers, but in the end that meant little as the Raptors prevailed last night.  TJ Ford had an outstanding game with 23 points, 10 assists and 3 steals.  Anthony Parker had a solid game with 13 points and 8 rebounds.  Rasho Nesterovic continued his improved play of late with 12 points and 5 rebounds.  Fred Jones had a good game off the bench with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.  Rookies Andrea Bargnani (11 points) and Jorge Garbajosa (10 points, 5 rebounds) each pitched in on the offense.

The Raptors improved to 12-15 on the season with this gritty victory.
